University Council says Olagunju’s appointment affirms its confidence in his leadership capacity

The Governing Council of Achievers University, Owo, has approved the appointment of Mr. Adebayo Olagunju as the fourth Registrar of the institution. The decision was ratified during the Council’s 40th meeting held on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

According to the Council, Olagunju’s elevation reflects its confidence in his capacity to steer the Registry and enhance the administrative efficiency of the University during a period of significant institutional growth and transformation.

Olagunju joined Achievers University on May 2, 2008, as Senior Assistant Registrar (Media)/Public Relations Officer, shortly after the commencement of academic activities. Over the years, he has held several strategic positions, including Senior Assistant Registrar and College Secretary in the College of Social and Management Sciences, Principal Assistant Registrar/Secretary of the School of Postgraduate Studies, and later, Deputy Registrar in 2020 after his promotion.

Before his tenure at Achievers University, Olagunju worked in the Federal Civil Service, where he also taught at the Air Force Secondary School, Ikeja. He later served at Tell Communications Limited, publishers of Tell magazine, where he rose to the position of Head of Copy Desk.

A seasoned administrator and communication professional, Olagunju holds a Bachelor of Arts (Education) in Language Arts (English) from the University of Ilorin (1991), a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Relations from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos (1993), and a Master of Science in Mass Communication (Public Relations) from Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State (2013). He is also an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

In a statement released on Tuesday, November 11, the management, staff, and students of Achievers University congratulated Olagunju on his appointment and expressed optimism that his leadership will further enhance the Registry’s service delivery, foster collaborative engagement with stakeholders, and strengthen the university’s administrative systems.
