An Osun State magistrate’s court has remanded two Osogbo residents at the Ilesa Custodial Centre over an alleged attack on staff members of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).
The defendants, Hassan Adeshina, 38, and Isiaka Mukaila, 20, were arraigned on Thursday before Magistrate A. Daramola of the Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court in suit number MOS/625/2026.
They face six counts bordering on assault, threat to life and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.
According to the charge sheet, Adeshina, Mukaila and others still at large allegedly attacked two IBEDC employees, Mmadukwe Michael and Jimoh Rashidat, at the company’s Oke-Ayepe office in Osogbo on October 21, 2026.
The defendants were also accused of threatening the workers and demanding that they surrender money realised for IBEDC on the day of the alleged incident.
The prosecution alleged that the defendants threatened to harm Michael if he refused to hand over the money.
A similar allegation was made against Mukaila and his co-defendants in relation to Rashidat, who was also allegedly threatened to surrender the company’s proceeds.
The charge further stated that the alleged attack resulted in pandemonium around the IBEDC office and constituted conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.
The charge read in part that the defendants “did attack one Mmadukwe Michael, a staff member of IBEDC Office, Oke-Ayepe, Osogbo and threatened him to give you the money they realised for the company by force.”
Adeshina and Mukaila pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The offences were said to contravene Sections 516, 86(2), 249(D) and 351 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II, Laws of Osun State, Nigeria, 2002.
Following their pleas, Magistrate Daramola ordered that the two defendants be remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Facility and adjourned the case to December 1, 2026, for further hearing.
