The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will begin distributing newly printed Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) across Oyo State on Friday, October 9, 2026, ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
Distribution will take place at all 33 INEC Local Government Area offices in the state between 9:00am and 3:00pm daily, excluding weekends and public holidays.
Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Oyo State, Prof. Adeniran Tella, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan.
According to him, the exercise will cater to specific categories of voters who require new PVCs following the latest Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
Those eligible include newly registered voters, registered voters who transferred their Polling Units, and voters whose PVCs were lost or damaged.
Tella stressed that PVC collection must be done personally, ruling out collection by proxy.
He said INEC had also put security arrangements in place in collaboration with relevant security agencies across the state to ensure that the exercise is conducted in a transparent, orderly and peaceful manner.
The REC urged eligible voters and other stakeholders involved in the electoral process to cooperate with the Commission by collecting their PVCs promptly.
Tella also drew attention to the number of old PVCs that remain uncollected in Oyo State, noting that many voters failed to pick up their cards ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The Commission therefore encouraged eligible voters to take advantage of the new distribution exercise and ensure they collect their cards within the designated period.
INEC’s PVC distribution exercise comes as preparations intensify for the forthcoming general elections, with voters expected to ensure that their registration and polling-unit details are up to date before election day.
