President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Lagos after concluding his working vacation in France, with the President scheduled to hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Tinubu arrived at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, on Tuesday, where Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other dignitaries received him.
His arrival was confirmed by Olusegun Dada, Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, who announced the development in a post on X.
“Landing. Welcome home Mr President!” Dada wrote.
According to a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu departed Paris for Lagos, where he is expected to spend several days attending to political engagements.
Onanuga said the President would hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates as part of preparations for the 2027 elections.
“While in Lagos, President Tinubu will also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates over several days in preparation for the 2027 elections,” the statement read.
The Presidency said Tinubu chose to return through Lagos to honour the memory of the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, the presumed winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election and a prominent figure in Nigeria’s pro-democracy struggle.
Tinubu is expected to attend the premiere of a movie celebrating Abiola on October 1, Nigeria’s Independence Day.
The event is scheduled to take place at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
During his stay in France, Tinubu also held a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron, alongside other official and business engagements.
His return to Nigeria brings his working vacation, which began on August 30, to an end after stops in London and Paris.
