Oyo State APC Chairman, Moses Alake Adeyemo, has attributed the recent improvement in electricity supply nationwide to the President Bola Tinubu administration’s commitment to revitalising critical sectors of the economy, expressing confidence that Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, would not disappoint Nigerians, who deserve reliable electricity and the best possible service.
He expressed satisfaction with Tegbe’s performance as minister, describing him as a committed party man whose appointment reflects President Tinubu’s confidence in the progressive family.
Adeyemo said Tegbe had demonstrated the commitment and dedication required to serve both the country and the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing confidence that he would not disappoint Nigerians in his ministerial assignment.
The former Oyo State deputy governor spoke on Monday at the APC secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, when Tegbe paid a thank-you visit to the party’s state leadership over its support for his appointment as a minister.
Adeyemo, who served as deputy governor between 2011 and 2019, commended Tegbe for recognising the contributions of party leaders and members who supported his nomination by the president.
He said the party was satisfied with Tegbe’s emergence as a minister and his continued identification with the APC, adding that the leadership remained confident in his ability to deliver on his responsibilities.
According to Adeyemo, the Tinubu administration’s commitment to reviving critical sectors of the economy, particularly electricity, was already yielding improvements in power supply across the country.
He expressed confidence that Tegbe would justify the confidence reposed in him by the president and meet Nigerians’ expectations.
Tegbe appreciates Oyo APC leaders
Responding, Tegbe thanked President Tinubu for finding him worthy of the responsibility of addressing Nigeria’s electricity challenges.
He also expressed appreciation to prominent citizens of Oyo State and APC stakeholders who endorsed his nomination and provided support and encouragement.
The minister said the level of backing he received from APC leaders, members and supporters for his appointment exceeded his expectations, despite the political circumstances surrounding them.
He added that the experience had strengthened his resolve to contribute to the development of the party and the country.
Tegbe said the Federal Government was determined to address the challenges in the power sector, noting that ongoing projects across the country were expected to improve electricity supply when completed.
He also disclosed plans to install solar-powered streetlights along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the coming weeks.
According to him, mini solar grids would be constructed at six locations in Oyo State.
Tegbe said the solar project in Ogbomoso was nearing completion following the resolution of challenges encountered by the contractors.
He added that the project in Saki was receiving attention to address longstanding electricity problems in Oke-Ogun and Ibarapa.
Minister pledges support for APC ahead of 2027
Tegbe also pledged his support for Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, assuring the party that he would back all APC candidates.
He disclosed that discussions had commenced with aggrieved governorship aspirants in Oyo State to resolve internal disagreements.
The minister expressed confidence that the issues would be resolved soon, while promising to work with APC support groups in the interest of the party and the country.
