The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has restored its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) following a temporary disruption, urging institutions to accelerate the 2026/2027 admission exercise ahead of approved deadlines.
The board announced on Monday that the admission platform was fully operational, directing universities and other tertiary institutions to make up for lost time and ensure candidates receive admission decisions within the stipulated period.
JAMB also advised candidates who have received admission offers to accept them promptly to facilitate the completion of the admission process.
In a statement, the board said the restoration of CAPS should enable institutions to intensify their admission activities and meet the deadlines agreed upon for the 2026/2027 academic session.
“JAMB wishes to inform candidates, institutions and other stakeholders that the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) has been fully restored and is now operational, following the temporary disruption,” the statement read.
JAMB announces admission deadlines
Under the approved admission schedule, public universities are expected to conclude their 2026/2027 admission exercise by October 31, 2026.
Private universities have until November 30, 2026, to complete their admission processes, while other tertiary institutions are required to conclude admissions by December 31, 2026.
The board urged institutions to take advantage of the restored platform to process outstanding applications and ensure compliance with the respective deadlines.
It said, “With CAPS back online, institutions are urged to accelerate their admission processes to recover lost time and meet the agreed admission deadlines.”
The deadlines are expected to guide the admission activities of institutions participating in the 2026/2027 exercise.
Candidates asked to upload NECO results
JAMB also called on candidates who previously indicated that they were awaiting their results to upload or verify their credentials following the release of the 2026 National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination results.
The board said the directive was necessary to ensure that candidates’ academic qualifications are available for consideration as institutions intensify admission processing.
“Following the release of the 2026 NECO SSCE results, candidates who previously awaited their results are advised to upload and/or verify them promptly to ensure their credentials are available for consideration as institutions intensify their admission processes,” JAMB stated.
Candidates affected by the directive are expected to ensure their results are properly reflected in the relevant admission records.
Failure to make the required results available could affect the consideration of candidates whose admission decisions depend on the outstanding credentials.
JAMB, however, expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption of CAPS, while appreciating the patience and understanding of candidates, institutions and other stakeholders.
The board urged all parties to use the restored platform to complete the admission process within the approved timelines.
CAPS is JAMB’s official platform for managing admissions into Nigerian tertiary institutions, allowing institutions to process admission offers and candidates to monitor and accept offers made to them.
