The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled its campaign council for the 2027 general elections, with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode, and a host of prominent political and entertainment figures named to key positions.
The structure was released on Thursday by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre ahead of its formal inauguration on Friday, September 18, at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.
Multiple reports published on Thursday independently reported the structure and inauguration details.
Prince Tajudeen Olusi is listed as Chairman of the Governance Advisory Council, while Sanwo-Olu will serve as Chairman of the Advisory Council. Fashola and Ambode are named as Co-Chairmen.
Other prominent figures in the advisory structure include Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu; Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly; and former Minister of Health, Olorunnimbe Mamora. Senior lawyers Muiz Banire and Babatunde Ogala are also listed in the advisory structure.
At the operational level, Sanwo-Olu is listed as Chairman of the campaign council, with Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as Deputy Chairman.
Lagos APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi is listed as Vice Chairman I, while Obasa is Vice Chairman II and Damilola Sonayon James is Vice Chairman III.
Former Senator Musiliu Obanikoro is named Director-General, with Rasaq Ajala as Deputy Director-General and Adekunle Olayinka as Campaign Secretary.
The campaign structure comprises several directorates and sub-committees covering legal and compliance matters, party and inter-party affairs, administration and logistics, traditional institutions, diaspora engagement and residents’ associations.
Entertainers get prominent roles
The campaign council also gives a prominent role to personalities from Nigeria’s entertainment industry, with 33 actors, musicians and other creative-sector figures listed under its Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.
Veteran actor Jide Kosoko, Nollywood stars Toyin Abraham-Ajeyemi, Eniola Badmus and Bimbo Akintola, as well as Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Abass Akande Obesere and Adewale Ayuba, are among those listed.
Toke Benson-Awoyinka is named Director of the directorate, while Kosoko will serve as Co-Director and Badmus as Deputy Director.
Akeem Alimi, popularly known as Ajala Jalingo, is listed as Secretary, with Dare Olateju as Assistant Secretary.
Other notable members from the Yoruba film industry include Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, Fathia Balogun, Yinka Quadri and Tayo Sobola.
The list also includes Abiola Adebayo, Remi Oshodi, Foluke Daramola, Kikelomo Balogun, Bopo Oyekan Ismaila, Rasaq Yusuf, Aderinola Philips, Olamide Maja and Abbey Lanre.
Fuji and contemporary music are represented by Pasuma, Obesere, Ayuba, Sulaimon Alao Adekunle (Malaika), Akorede Babatunde Okunola (Osupa) and Temitope Adekunle (Small Doctor), alongside other members of the creative sector.
The entertainment directorate is one of several units created under the broader campaign council as the Lagos APC prepares its campaign structure ahead of the 2027 elections.
Formal inauguration of the council is scheduled for Friday at the party’s secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.
