The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has apologised to Band A customers in Oyo, Ogun and Kwara states after several feeders failed to meet their mandated electricity supply hours on Monday.
The disruption affected feeders across the three states, with some recording no electricity supply at all, while others delivered between 12 and 19 hours.
IBEDC attributed the shortfalls to technical and operational challenges involving both the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and its own network.
In a public announcement issued on Tuesday, the electricity distribution company listed TCN forced outages, TCN load shedding, IBEDC forced outages, load shedding, overcurrent and earth faults, as well as disconnections over unpaid bills among the reasons for the reduced supply.
“We sincerely apologise for our inability to deliver the estimated hours of supply on your feeder,” the company said.
Among the feeders that recorded zero hours was the Water Works (Ojere) 33kV feeder in Abeokuta, Ogun State, which supplies the Arakanga Water Scheme and Iberekodo.
IBEDC said the feeder was out because of disconnection over non-payment.
The Railway (Papa) 33kV feeder, which supplies the Papalanto Train Station, also recorded zero hours and remained disconnected because of non-payment, according to the company.
In Ibadan, the Moniya Railway 33kV feeder, serving the Moniya Train Station, similarly recorded no supply after being disconnected over non-payment.
Another prolonged outage affected the Joju 33kV feeder, which serves Owode, Ajibode and Iya Ilogbo.
IBEDC said the feeder was out between midnight and 11 pm because of a TCN-forced outage caused by a breaker fault.
Several other feeders recorded reduced supply following faults and load-shedding incidents.
The Oluyole 11kV feeder, serving Oluyole Estate, Johnson Awe, Soka, Queen School Road, Alaro, Oluode and Ibadan Garage Roads, supplied electricity for 15 hours.
IBEDC said it was forced out of service between noon and 5pm before tripping on an overcurrent fault between 6pm and 7pm.
The Molete Industrial 33kV feeder, serving areas including Podo, Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, Akala Way and Ring Road, recorded 19 hours after an overcurrent and earth fault kept it out between 2pm and 6pm.
The Express 33kV feeder, which covers the Interchange Injection Substation, supplied electricity for 12 hours following an overcurrent and earth fault that affected it from midnight until 11am.
The Eruwa Lanlate 33kV feeder also recorded 19 hours. The feeder, serving Olohuntumo, Owode Estate, Omi Adio, Zartech and Eruwa, experienced an earth fault between 3pm and 4pm and an overcurrent fault between 10pm and 11pm.
In Kwara State, the Idofian 33kV feeder, which serves Afon Road, Ganmo, Amoyo, Jimba, Elerinjare, Gata, Idofian, Fufu, Okanle and Igbaja, recorded 19 hours after an overcurrent fault between 7pm and 11pm.
Several feeders in Ogun State were also affected by load shedding and technical faults.
The Ilaro 33kV feeder, serving Isofin Town, Akinbo Village, Papa Palace Road, Agodo, Asaobintin and Oke-Ela, supplied electricity for 17 hours after being placed on TCN load shedding from 10am to 4pm.
The Water Works (Papalanto) 33kV feeder, serving Sagamu Road, Papalanto and Iro Sango, also recorded 17 hours after TCN load shedding between 10am and 4pm.
The Ijagba 33kV feeder, which serves Unity and Peace, Ijagba, Odan, Kafidupe, Oko Ewe and Kings Estate, recorded 19 hours after TCN load shedding from 10am to 2pm.
The Ogunmakin/Ajebo 33kV feeder also supplied electricity for 19 hours following an earth fault between 3pm and 7pm.
The Poly 11kV feeder recorded 15 hours after IBEDC load shedding at 2pm and an earth fault that lasted from 4pm to 11pm.
The Makun Commercial 33kV feeder similarly recorded 15 hours after an earth fault affected supply from midnight until 8am.
Providing an update on the situation, IBEDC said most of the affected feeders had been restored by Tuesday.
However, the Water Works (Ojere) 33kV feeder remained out, while the Moniya Railway and Railway (Papa) 33kV feeders were still disconnected over non-payment.
“Kindly note that the mentioned feeders have been restored except Water Works (Ojere) 33kV feeder while Moniya Railway and Railway (Papa) 33kV feeders are still out due to disconnection,” IBEDC said.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to meeting the expected supply hours for Band A customers despite the disruptions.
“We remain committed to delivering the estimated hours of supply,” the management said.
