The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has clarified that the September 30, 2026 deadline contained in an official memo on matriculation lists does not mean newly admitted students are required to sign the lists on September 23.
The clarification followed the circulation of a viral notice directing newly admitted students to appear for matriculation list signing on September 23.
LAUTECH Management described the circulating notice as false and unauthorised, urging students to disregard it.
The university said it is currently on break and that no Faculty Office is undertaking the matriculation list signing exercise at present.
According to a statement signed by the Registrar, Mrs Olayinka Balogun, the institution has not commenced the exercise and will announce its actual commencement date through official channels after resumption.
The clarification comes against the backdrop of an earlier official communication concerning the matriculation lists for students admitted into 100 Level and through Direct Entry for the 2025/2026 academic session.
In a memo dated August 24, 2026, also signed by Balogun, LAUTECH confirmed that the matriculation lists had been dispatched to the relevant faculties.
The memo, titled “Dispatch of Matriculation List for 2025/2026 Newly Admitted Students,” instructed Faculty Officers to ensure that each newly admitted student signs against his or her name on the appropriate list.
Faculty officers were also directed to submit three copies of the completed lists to the Registrar’s Office on or before Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
The university described the matriculation list as “an important statutory document of the University” and directed the Faculty Officers to ensure compliance with the instruction.
Management, however, stressed that the September 30 date specified in the memo is strictly the deadline for the Faculties to submit the completed lists to the Registrar’s Office.
It does not, the university said, authenticate or confirm the September 23 date contained in the viral notice.
The distinction is significant because the August 24 memo confirms the existence and circulation of the matriculation lists but does not announce September 23 as the date for students to begin signing them.
LAUTECH therefore advised newly admitted students to rely only on information released through its official communication channels and to disregard the unauthorised notice circulating online.
The university assured the affected students that a formal announcement would be made regarding the commencement of the matriculation list signing exercise once the institution resumes from its current break.
