The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dare Bejide, was unable to secure victory at his polling unit as Ekiti State governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Biodun Oyebanji, recorded a decisive win in the results announced on Saturday.

Results declared at Ilawe-Ekiti Ward II, Polling Unit 004, showed that Oyebanji polled 140 votes to emerge the winner of the polling unit, outperforming his rivals by a wide margin.

Bejide, who hails from the area and voted at the polling unit, secured 37 votes, finishing a distant second behind the incumbent governor.

The African Action Congress (AAC) candidate received three votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Wole Oluyede, polled two votes.

The polling unit result is among those being collated across Ekiti State following Saturday’s governorship election, in which eligible voters turned out to elect the state’s next governor.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is expected to continue the collation and announcement of results from polling units, wards and local government areas before the declaration of the overall winner of the election.
