The Ondo State Police Command has arrested six men in Ibadan, Oyo State, over their alleged involvement in the fraudulent sale and illegal transfer of three heavy-duty vehicles valued at more than N71 million.
The suspects were identified as Adeola Kolawole, 56; Alhaji Gani Bello, 73; Oladoja Akeem, 56; Wasiu Adigun, 55; Azeez Yusuf, 49; and Ojo Mudasiru, 40.
The command disclosed the arrests in a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh.
According to the police, the suspects were apprehended in Ibadan following what it described as a painstaking, intelligence-driven investigation conducted by operatives of the command.
Jimoh stated that the case was reported to the police on May 22, 2026, by one Paul Aderemi of Ayegunle Street, Ondo.
Preliminary findings revealed that the complainant had, in May 2025, purchased a low-loader truck, a tipper truck and a small truck collectively valued at about N71 million.
The vehicles were reportedly entrusted to the custody of the principal suspect, Adeola Kolawole, at Arigbabola Street in Ondo under an agreed arrangement.
However, the complainant allegedly discovered on May 13, 2026, that the vehicles had been sold without his approval, prompting him to report the matter to the police.
The police spokesperson explained that detectives immediately launched an extensive investigation after receiving the complaint.
According to the statement, investigators acted on credible intelligence which led to the arrest of Kolawole, who allegedly confessed during interrogation to selling the vehicles to Alhaji Gani Bello in Ibadan.
The confession reportedly provided fresh leads that enabled detectives to track down and arrest the remaining suspects believed to have participated in different stages of the alleged illegal transaction.
“The command is currently intensifying efforts to recover the three vehicles and unravel the full extent of the criminal conspiracy,” the statement said.
Police further disclosed that all six suspects had allegedly made confessional statements detailing their respective roles in the matter.
The command added that the suspects would be charged to court upon the completion of investigations.
The police also appealed to residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to aid efforts aimed at combating crime and sustaining peace across Ondo State.
