Fresh controversy has erupted around former Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) member, Funke Ashekun, following the circulation of an alleged audio recording reportedly linked to her.
The recording, currently sparking widespread reactions on social media, allegedly contains discussions centred on recruiting disgruntled former church members and mobilising opposition against the church’s leadership, including its General Overseer, Dr Daniel Olukoya.
The situation gained further traction after several bloggers, among them Aunty Adunni Blog, shared claims alleging the existence of an organised group working against the ministry.
Although some individuals initially dismissed the allegations, the emergence of the leaked audio has intensified debates among church members and online observers.
Voices identified in the recording as those of Wale Akpeji and another individual named Sola were reportedly heard discussing recruitment strategies and outlining expectations for intended participants.
Reports about the audio also alleged conversations about financial incentives and possible overseas travel opportunities for individuals willing to make statements against the church leadership.
As the recording continues to circulate online, reactions have continued to pour in from members of the public and members of the church community.
A Baltimore County Circuit Court in the United States of America, presided over by Theresa Adams, had, in 2024, awarded $50,000 damages against Ashekun for using social media to spread all manner of falsehoods about the MFM and its leadership, particularly the General Overseer.
Many observers described the development as a troubling reflection of how fractured relationships, unresolved grievances, and loss of trust can evolve into actions capable of creating division within the Christian faith community.
What was once seen as a bond founded on loyalty, integrity, gratitude, and shared faith has now become clouded by allegations, secret collaborations, and attempts to undermine spiritual authority.
