The Nigeria Police Force in Lagos State has arrested six suspected members of a notorious “One Chance” robbery syndicate allegedly operating in the Okota area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Lagos.

According to the statement, the suspects were apprehended during a stop-and-search operation conducted by police operatives along Ago Palace Way in Okota.

Adebisi explained that the operatives intercepted a tricycle with registration number AAA 720 QL carrying about six occupants while the suspects were allegedly attempting to rob unsuspecting commuters.

She said the suspects abandoned the tricycle and fled immediately after sighting the police officers.

“The operatives recovered a cutlass allegedly used for their operations and a mobile phone at the scene,” the spokesperson stated.

She added that further investigation and follow-up operations led to the arrest of the six suspects, who are aged between 20 and 28 years.

According to Adebisi, the suspects were also found in possession of a dummy pistol allegedly used to intimidate victims during their criminal operations.

She noted that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing and sustained efforts aimed at combating criminal activities across the state.

He also urged residents to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information that could assist security agencies in tackling crime and ridding the state of criminal elements.
