The Lagos State Government has sealed a Domino’s Pizza outlet in Lekki, Eti-Osa Local Government Area, over the alleged discharge of untreated sewage into the environment.

The affected outlet, located at No. 38B, Freedom Way, Lekki, was shut down following investigations by the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office after a complaint from a resident.

The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed the development in a statement shared on his X handle on Tuesday.

According to him, the investigation revealed that untreated sewage was being discharged from an overfilled septic tank into the surrounding environment and public drainage channels.

“Following a complaint received from a concerned resident and a thorough investigation, the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO), on Wednesday, 12th May 2026, sealed off Domino’s Pizza at No. 38B, Freedom Way, Lekki, Eti-Osa, Lagos, over indiscriminate discharge of untreated sewage from its chamber due to an overfilled septic tank into the environment and public drains,” the statement read.

Wahab said the discharge created an environmental nuisance, emitted offensive odour and posed health risks to residents and members of the public in the area.

He warned residents, businesses and property managers across the state to comply with approved wastewater management practices, stressing that violators of environmental regulations would face sanctions and possible prosecution under existing laws.

The commissioner reiterated the state government’s commitment to enforcing environmental standards, especially in densely populated commercial and residential districts such as Lekki.

He also urged residents to report environmental infractions through the state’s designated hotlines: 08022022397 and 07025332163.

The enforcement action is part of ongoing efforts by the Lagos State government to curb illegal sewage disposal and improve environmental sanitation across the state.

In recent months, authorities have intensified crackdowns on facilities accused of discharging untreated waste into public drains, with several estates, restaurants and event centres in Lekki and adjoining areas affected by the exercise.
