Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose visited the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, at his Bodija residence in Ibadan on Tuesday.
The visit follows recent political tensions sparked by allegations made by Fayose regarding the state government’s relationship with the traditional institution.
Fayose arrived at the residence around 4:50 p.m., accompanied by several political associates.
After being received by the monarch in his private living room, Fayose stated that the primary purpose of his visit was to check on the Olubadan’s well-being.
The meeting comes in the wake of claims Fayose posted on his X handle, alleging that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is planning to remove Ladoja from his position.
The former Ekiti State governor also suggested that the monarch could face a query for failing to attend the recent elevation ceremony of High Chief Sharafadeen Ali and others to the status of Oba.
However, the Oyo State government has categorically denied these assertions.
In a statement shared with journalists, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the commissioner for information and strategy, dismissed the claims, asserting that the government has “never contemplated, discussed, or planned such an action.”
Specific details regarding the discussions held during the private meeting between Fayose and the Olubadan have not yet been disclosed.
