The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of Mrs. Adetutu Aderibigbe, who was kidnapped at her residence in the Bolumole area of Ibadan on Wednesday evening.
The Command has moved to debunk circulating social media reports claiming the victim was intercepted on the road.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, the incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. at her home, located off Ring Road, after the assailants trailed her to her premises.
Police findings revealed that four masked armed men accosted Mrs. Aderibigbe at her gate as she was attempting to enter her property.
The perpetrators then forcefully abducted her using an unregistered black Lexus vehicle.
While a family member was present during the attack, the police confirmed that no other persons were harmed during the incident.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the incident occurred on 8th April 2026 at about 1800hrs at Bolumole Area, off Ring Road, Ibadan,” Olayinka stated.
He clarified that, contrary to rumors of a roadside ambush or a smashed vehicle windscreen, the attackers specifically targeted her at her gate.
The Oyo State Police Command has mobilized tactical units and detectives to the scene for an on-the-spot assessment.
Police officials confirmed that forensic teams have swept the crime scene and recovered critical evidence to aid the ongoing investigation.
The command said it has intensified surveillance and intelligence-led operations to track the suspects and ensure the safe rescue of the victim.
“The Command wishes to assure the public that all necessary resources have been deployed to secure the victim’s release and apprehend those responsible for this heinous act,” Olayinka added.
Police are appealing to members of the public to remain calm and urge anyone with credible information to contact law enforcement to assist in the investigation.
