The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe) has recovered more than 20 cows stolen during a late-night attack on a ranch in Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, following a swift response by its operatives.

The Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, disclosed the development in a statement issued in Abeokuta by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Adegunwa Adegbuyi.

According to Ganzallo, the incident occurred in the early hours of March 17, 2026, when the Corps received a distress call at about 1:30 a.m. from a resident of Ifesowapo community, reporting an ongoing cattle rustling operation at a ranch within the area.

He explained that upon receiving the alert, he immediately directed the Ijebu Zonal Commander, Yemi Odukoya, to deploy a special response squad to the scene without delay.

“Upon arrival, it was discovered that the rustlers had violently attacked and injured the security guard on duty before fleeing with about 20 cows,” Ganzallo stated.

The Corps operatives promptly launched a pursuit of the suspects. However, sensing imminent arrest, the rustlers abandoned the stolen cattle and fled into a nearby bush.

Ganzallo confirmed that all the recovered cows had been safely returned to their owner, while the injured guard was taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

He added that efforts were ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects, assuring residents of the Corps’ commitment to maintaining security across the state.

The commander also emphasised the importance of community collaboration in combating crime, commending residents for their timely and credible information which aided the operation.

He further urged sustained cooperation between the public and security agencies to enhance safety and prevent criminal activities.
