The chief magistrate’s court in Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday ordered the remand of two men in separate cases of alleged sexual assault involving minors. The suspects, 58-year-old Sesan Olabode and 37-year-old Joseph Olasope, were both sent to the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

In the first case, Chief Magistrate C. M. Kushanu directed that Olabode, a security guard residing at 25 Olusa Street, New Oko-Oba, Agege, be remanded without his plea being taken. The defendant faces a charge of sexual assault contrary to Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, the incident occurred in September 2025 at 2 Ololade Street, New Oko-Oba, Agege. Ademigbuji alleged that the defendant, who serves as a community security guard, lured a 16-year-old girl into his security post, forcefully had carnal knowledge of her, and offered her N2,000 to keep silent.

The victim was said to have reported the incident to her mother upon returning home.

The court adjourned the matter until 20 January 2026 for further proceedings.

In the second case heard the same day, Chief Magistrate M. F. Onamusi ordered the remand of Olasope, who resides at 35 Oladimeji Street, Aguda, Surulere. The defendant is accused of inserting his finger into the private part of a three-year-old girl.

Prosecutor Ademigbuji informed the court that the alleged assault occurred on 8 October at a school located at 3 Kareem Olanrewaju Street, Badagry. He said the defendant had visited the school when he was allegedly caught perpetrating the act. His plea was also not taken.

Onamusi adjourned the matter until 10 December for DPP advice.

Both cases, according to the prosecution, fall under Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which prescribes penalties for sexual assault.
