As part of efforts to consolidate support for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola’s 2027 governorship ambition, a socio-political group known as Ogun Visionaries, on Thursday, convened a town hall meeting for residents of Ogun West Senatorial District.
Themed “Yayi 2027: Making a Case for Ogun State Unity and Prosperity,” the event was held at Sango-Ota in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, drawing political leaders, professionals, community stakeholders, and youth representatives from across the region.
Speaking at the meeting, the Director-General of Ogun Visionaries, Odunleye Odunjo, said the group was embarking on statewide interactive sessions to engage citizens directly on their expectations ahead of the 2027 polls.
“We will listen to people across the state, asking them what kind of government they want in 2027 and how they believe their next leader should govern,” Odunjo stated. “We intend to x-ray individuals aspiring to lead us and support the best among them. With the resources available to Ogun State, we must be deliberate about who we entrust with leadership.”
He explained that the initiative was not a novel concept in Ogun’s political landscape but a deliberate attempt to identify challenges, explore opportunities, and develop actionable strategies for sustainable development.
The meeting’s chairman, the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Isiaq Kunle Salako, represented by Hon. Sheriff Abiodun, commended the organisers for creating a platform that promotes constructive dialogue and unity among citizens.
Salako described the gathering as more than a routine political engagement, noting that it symbolized a collective commitment to the state’s peace, progress, and prosperity.
“This is not just another political event; it is a statement of solidarity and a reaffirmation of our shared resolve to build a more united and prosperous Ogun State,” he said.
The Ogun Visionaries pledged to continue its sensitization across the three senatorial districts, emphasizing that citizen participation remains crucial to shaping a transparent and people-driven political process ahead of the 2027 elections.
