Dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR),

I pen this letter with a heavy heart, compelled by the urgent need to address a crisis that threatens the very foundation of our nation’s future: the state of our education system. As a concerned citizen deeply committed to the progress and prosperity of Nigeria, I implore you to prioritize education as a matter of utmost importance.

Mr. President, our education system is deteriorating at an alarming rate, failing to provide the quality learning experiences our children deserve. Inadequate infrastructure, teacher shortages, and outdated curriculum plague our schools, denying millions of young minds the opportunity to reach their full potential. Without access to quality education, we cannot hope to build a nation that thrives in the 21st century.

What grieves me even more, Mr. President, is the glaring hypocrisy of our political elite. While they extol the virtues of patriotism and national pride, they shamelessly send their own children abroad for education, leaving behind the children of the less privileged to languish in substandard schools. This blatant disregard for the welfare of our youth is not only unjust but also perpetuates a cycle of inequality that undermines the fabric of our society.

Mr. President, we cannot afford to stand idly by as the future of our nation hangs in the balance. It is imperative that we take decisive action to rebuild our education system from the ground up. This starts with a comprehensive overhaul of our curriculum, ensuring that it is relevant, inclusive, and aligned with the needs of a rapidly evolving world.

Furthermore, we must make significant investments in our education infrastructure, providing modern facilities and resources to every school, regardless of location or socioeconomic status. Additionally, we must prioritize the recruitment, training, and retention of qualified teachers, equipping them with the skills and support they need to deliver high-quality instruction to our students.

Mr. President, the time for half-measures and empty promises has passed. The future of our nation depends on the choices we make today. Let us rise above partisan politics and personal interests to forge a new path forward—one defined by a steadfast commitment to the empowerment and enlightenment of every Nigerian child.

In closing, I urge you to heed the voices of the millions of Nigerians who look to you for leadership and guidance. Embrace education as the cornerstone of our nation’s development agenda, and together, let us build a brighter future for generations to come.

Yours sincerely,

Dr. (Mrs) Busayo Ogunronbi
